Swanwood

Planning permission was granted in April 2024 for a new statement dwelling in parkland setting with Palladian influences designed following classical forms, proportion, and symmetry.

Surrounded by ancient woodland Swanwood is a true one-off house that replaces a run down Victorian dwelling. The sheer scale and nature of the site called for an architecturally strong solution to make best use of the sites elevated views out over the woodland and lake. The ability to re-orientate the dwelling and make it coincident with the axis of the formal rear lawn provided an excellent opportunity to fully integrate the original garden design with the house. The elevated location of the dwelling relative to the primary garden area means that the external terrace areas naturally cascade down to the formal lawn with ample opportunities for formal planting beds and other features to be created and provide for an instant integration into the formal planting which already exists.
