Holly Tree House, Beckenham, Kent.
A Victorian townhouse full of traditional character is transformed into a wonderful modern family home though brave modern interventions, artwork and remodelling.
Located close to the centre of Beckenham, Holly Tree House is a Victorian semi-detached townhouse built in the late 1850s.
When we were commissioned the existing layout of the house at the ground floor did not make the most of the internal area and the access to the garden was extremely convoluted being via a uPVC conservatory which was under utilised as it was only connected to the house via an unwelcoming narrow single storey corridor.
The internal space at the rear of the house was remodelled in a sympathetic manner to provide better proportioned internal spaces that forms a combined kitchen/dining area and a new family room that is contained within a new extension lit by generous bi-folding doors and a contemporary roof lantern.
The family room becomes the portal to the garden and has a wonderful terrace to provide an external seating/dining area.
